Sumo suit wrestling has emerged as a wildly entertaining and increasingly popular activity for a range of events and parties. Originating from the traditional Japanese sport of sumo wrestling, this activity has been adapted into a safe and hilarious version suitable for all ages.
Today, we will go through the different factors affecting how much it costs to hire sumo suits, what’s included in the package, and the setup process.
Basic rental costs
The basic cost of a sumo suit rental is $250 – $300 + GST for 3 hours. While for full-day rates we recommend that you contact us for a custom quote. The overall cost can also vary depending on several factors, including your location, the duration of the hire, and the type of sumo suit.
Location: Geographic location plays a significant role in pricing. At Monsterball, there is no delivery fee if your event address is within a 30 km radius of Fremantle.
Duration of hire: Sumo suit rentals are priced for a standard duration of 3 hours. If you need the suits for a longer period, this can increase the cost and we recommend that you contact our team for a custom quote.
Suit type: Sumo wrestling suits can come in a variety of designs. At Monsterball, we supply standard sumo suits (at $300 + GST for 3 hours) and superhero-themed sumo suits (at $250 + GST for 3 hours).
What’s included in the sumo suit package
Our sumo suit hire packages come with several key components designed to replicate the sumo wrestling experience while ensuring the safety and comfort of the users. Here’s a breakdown of what customers can expect from our sumo suit hire package:
- 2 x suits that are fully padded, offering safety and comfort
- Padded helmets to protect your head
- A padded sumo mat, provided a safe surface to wrestle on
- Set up and take down by one of our team members
The event can be self-supervised by an adult, but you can also hire a trained supervisor for $70 + GST per hour.
Setup & space considerations
Setting up a sumo suit wrestling area at your event requires consideration of both the space available and specific setup needs. This ensures not only the smooth operation of the activity but also the safety and enjoyment of participants and spectators.
Wrestling area: The central requirement is a flat, open space for the wrestling mat. A standard wrestling mat is usually around 3 to 4 metres in diameter. Ensure extra space around the mat for movement and safety.
Level ground: The surface where the mat will be placed needs to be level to prevent uneven footing and potential injuries.
Suiting up area: Consider space for participants to put on and take off the sumo suits. This area should be close to the wrestling area but separate enough to provide privacy and ease of movement.
