Family Friendly Event Amusements

Here at Monsterball, we sure know how to have a good time. That’s why we are a well-loved choice when it comes to hiring amusements for family-friendly events in Western Australia. Over the years, we have had the honour of helping to create opportunities for connection and joy within our communities, and our contribution to Australia Day celebrations have always been one to remember.

This year, the City of Perth is hosting family-friendly events from 24 to 27 January in 2021. Get excited for tons of (free!) live music, amusements, entertainment, and inflatable rides! Here’s a snapshot of the celebrations that will be happening across Perth this coming long weekend.

Australia Day is a few days away and if you are still not sure of where to go, here are 3 events available for the family on January 26th around Perth City, South of the River and East Perth and the Hills.

Something for the Whole Family: Langley Park

For Australia Day Perth in 2021, bring your friends and family over to Perth Foreshore. From 3pm onwards, families can enjoy free rides and activities at the Lotterywest Entertainment Zone in Langley Park. Expect to get lost in the Aussie Maze, have a splash at the Water Playground, or chill out at the Accessible Zone where there will be a Silent Disco, Cup & Saucer Ride, Flip Flop Painting workshop and more exciting amusements suited to people of varying ages and abilities.

In the previous years, our team at Monsterball have been known for creating the most memorable Inflatable Water Parks for Australia Day Perth. Anyone who attended probably had a go on one of our gigantic water slides, jumping castles, climbing walls, bungee trampolines, custom made inflatables, and sport inflatables! Our zorb balls, bumper boats, dunk tanks, and many more amusements were also popular with crowds of all ages. Make sure not to miss out this year!

More Water Fun: Kalamunda Water Park

Monsterball is proud to have been a part of multiple events hosted by Kalamunda Water Park. We brought our supersized inflatable slides to Kalamunda Water Park’s Australia Day Perth and School’s Out Pool Parties that made sure everyone attending had a whale of a time.

Although the Water Park is not hosting any special Australia Day Perth events in 2021, they have tons of exciting water activities that are fun for the whole family – so be sure to drop in for a splash before the summer is over!

Catch a Great View: Across Perth

For the 36th year in a row, the annual Australia Day Perth Skyworks event took place on Sunday 26 January 2020 at Langley Park, the Supreme Court Gardens, Kings Park, and Sir James Mitchell Park in South Perth too. So those who dropped by for a splash brought a picnic rug and chilled out under the evening skies with family and friends. Unfortunately, Skyworks has been cancelled for 2021 due to the restrictions of COVID-19.

But don’t fret – there are tons of other great sights to see! On Friday 22 January 2021, why not head to the Moonlight Cinema to catch a great flick and some popcorn? Then continue the celebrations over the long weekend by being captivated by an awesome water projection showcase “Shining the Light” at Elizabeth Quay, having a chilled evening at the Rooftop Movies, and watching the Perth Skydiving Display Team twirl and twist from the sky at Langley Park (while you’re dropping by the Water Playground for a splash)!

Tunes and Tasty Treats: Across Perth

Catch some great tunes and a snack as you make your way around the City of Perth’s entertainment hubs this Australia Day Perth 2021. On Friday 22 January, enjoy performances by Aboriginal dance groups as they share stories of the world’s oldest living culture through music, dance and language.

On Saturday, head over to Yagan Square to catch The City of Perth Concert Band perform their repertoire of Australian music, then pop over to Northbridge Plaza for loads of family-friendly entertainment and more live music. That same evening, enjoy an Australian folk music performance featuring Ashlea Reale and the Outlaws in the street level plaza amphitheatre in front of the Fairlanes building.

Then on Sunday, have yourself a day of family-friendly entertainment made for kids including puppets, magicians, music and dancing at the Family Concert in Forrest Place. That evening, bring a picnic rug to enjoy the sunset and incredible performances and acts from Nyoongar Bibbulman singers, bands, artists, poets and dancers at the Perth Cultural Centre.

On Monday, celebrate not having to be back at work (yet!) and join your local community on the green for an evening filled with music, entertainment and food stalls in the beautiful Victoria Gardens.

On the last day of festivities, celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures with the annual Birak Concert that boasts a stellar line up of Aboriginal entertainment. Grab a feed from the food trucks on site and settle in to enjoy the show on Tuesday 26 January.

Pop on over to The Big Aussie BBQ at Hay Street, which will be closed off from traffic. Beginning with Aboriginal bush tucker, make your way through a diverse selection of BBQ from other cultures with vegetarian and vegan options included. Accompanied by musical performances and roving entertainers, this event is a perfect way to end Australia Day Perth 2021.

Fringe World: Across Perth

Running from Friday 15 January to 14 February 2021, the third largest Fringe in the world and the 2021 Festival should definitely be on your to-do list this Australia Day Perth. You’ll be spoilt for choice with hundreds of shows to see at a range of venues across Perth, including The Woodside Pleasure Garden and Girls School. From comedy and music performances, musicals to circus shows, there’s something for everyone at the Fringe Festival!

Shop and Support Local: Markets

Fancy yourself a food connoisseur? Or just really love trying different cuisines and snacks? There are tons of food markets popping up throughout Australia Day Perth in 2021. Plus, there will be local makers and vendors putting up unique items for grabs, so you can take a piece of Australia Day home with you and be proud that you shopped locally and supported WA businesses.

On Friday 22 January, visit Forrest Place where the Twilight Hawkers Market will bring some of the tastiest street food from around the globe to the heart of Perth. On Sunday, pop over to Murray Street Mall for the Perth Home Grown Market, a local sustainable living market filled with specialty baked goods, handmade gifts, homewares, and fresh fruit and veg. Then on Tuesday, visit the Australia Day Market at Forrest Place for a special Australia Day edition of the much-loved Twilight Hawkers Market featuring international cuisines from around the globe to cap off the celebrations.
